What I like about Me {Spring Forward Blog Challenge Day 1}

I like that I try to be a good friend to my friends. :) I am not the "perfect" friend, but I am genuine and care deeply about the friends and family God has put in my life. I believe people that know me feel comfortable enough to be themselves around me which in turn makes me feel free to be myself as well.

I like that I can be happy doing just about anything and truly enjoy the moment. I don't often find myself bored for more than a few minutes. If it does happen its because I am being lazy and don't feel like doing anything to entertain myself. I can keep myself good company and love a good balance between being social and having some quiet time. I am for the most part a contented person when it comes to accepting the circumstances that I cannot change. I do the best with what I have and know that what I have ultimately belongs to God.

I like that I am open minded. I think that I am pretty good at seeing things from other people's perspective and while I might not necessarily agree with them, I usually take some time to put myself in their position and try to see how they might see it. Not to say that I don't have strong convictions, I do, but I guess what I am trying to say is that I am understanding and compassionate for the most part and I like that about myself.

Physically, I would have to say I like my uniqueness. I have chubby cheeks, long nose with a bump, and a sticky out bottom lip with hardly an upper lip to match not to mention my crazy un-kept hair (that one could be helped I realize). I know God made me this way and so I have come to embrace this look as my own.

As I close this post I feel a bit awkward about saying all these things that I like about myself, but then I am reminded of a poster when I was in Kindergarten that said, "I'm not junk, because God doesn't make junk". I know who I am in Christ and because of that I can love myself because I am loved my an Awesome God!

PS. please keep Buzzbee and I in your prayers today as we go to Detroit for the immigration interview!! pray for safety and that we would arrive there in time and that the interview would go smoothly and quickly!

Book Review: Regret Free Parenting by Catherine Hickem

As a newly married woman, I do not have any children yet, and probably will not for a couple years. My friends however have already started having babies which is VERY exciting! My sister in law in fact just had her second baby 2 days ago! so adorable.
Today I am reviewing a book provided by booksneeze.com (check it out)

Anyways, Regret Free Parenting by Catherine Hickem is a mother herself and therefore has first hand experience. In the book, Hickem, offers seven essential parenting principles: a mother’s purpose, knowing your child, having a vision, emotional intelligence, maintaining your position, addressing fears, and being God-dependent.  At the end of each chapter, she poses questions for the reader to think about, as well as encouraging them to take active steps toward being an intentional mother.
I really liked how the book focused on how to be intentional all the while growing yourself as a mother. Hickem suggests that the mother's perception of herself is easily picked up by her children and they will treat themselves how she treats herself. That being said it is important for the mother to take care of herself and her own spiritual growth as well as being confident in herself and her authority. The book also discussed children through various ages and stages which is why I would recommend this book to any mother whatever stage her kids are at.
I felt I would have been more interested in this book if I actually had children. I am giving this book to a pregnant friend who I think will appreciate it and hopefully find it helpful. I may ask for it back when I have children of my own as a refresher.

Thanks booksneeze.com

I apologize for the lack of posts, here's our car :)

Not that a lot hasn't been happening, quite the opposite, it is just finding internet time to post something.
So now that I have a bit of time I will make a short post.
In a bout a monthish I should be back to having internet and regular posts! That makes me happy.

SO! I must say, I have had a lot of prayers answered rather quickly over this past month it's almost overwhelming! Buzzbee got a full time job that we had been praying about! Our car died which we knew was going to happen and the Lord provided us with a generous gift from our church with some money to go towards a new (used) car for us! AND we got a car and it's so lovely! We got a really good deal on it and should last us a while! I saw it immediately (it's yellow) and hoped we could get that one and we did!

Emma *Petal*(Blossom's baby) was born, no complications or anything and is sooo adorable! Another awesome answer to prayer is that I got my work permit! I can now legally work in the USA and within 2 days of getting it I had an interview and was offered the job! I will let you know more about that later. God has really been taking care of us, and I thank Him every night for that. I am blessed to have a wonderful, loving saviour who cares more about me than I can ever imagine. It's a wonder I ever have trouble sleeping at night, when I have an almighty God leading me and holding me in His hand I should be always sleeping like a baby.

Once I start working we are going to move into town, which will be a nice change. I am looking forward to taking this step and starting our grown up lives together, with our new jobs and new car! it's exciting.

That's all I am going to post for now, Hope to post again this weekend.

Hair Update: Week 1

I washed my hair yesterday using baking soda and rinsing with vinegar. I took about 1 tablespoon of baking soda and dissolved it in about 6 oz cup. (I'm still experimenting with the proportions) As I rinsed the baking soda out of my hair I could tell that it really got the oil and residue build up out of my hair.
I then rinsed with about half cup of white vinegar and half cup of water (didn't have cider vinegar yet or any essential oils). I will have to work on getting an old shampoo bottle or something to squirt because I accidently got the vinegar in my eyes. YOWZERS! I thought I was going to be blind. Luckily I rinsed my eyeballs out right away and the pain was gone within seconds.
I finished with combing my hair with a wide toothed comb and blow dried my hair a bit.
When it was completely dry I brushed it with my new brush Buzzbee bought me! The brush has boar bristles and synthetic bristles. I researched brushes and it was suggested to be the best for your hair.

Results:
I noticed right away that my hair was very soft and shiny.  A lot less flyaways and frizzies and it was smooth without having to blow dry it all the way. It almost looked like I straightened it. Jake noticed the softness and also the vinegar smell. I have to work on that.
Today my bangs look a lil greasy, but then again they always get that because I am constantly moving them out of my face with my hands.

Another thing I noticed this morning was that my eyes were not swollen! I usually always wake up, straining to open my eyes that are puffed right up. This morning that didn't happen. Not sure if it's just coincidence or if shampoos and product have that effect on my eyes.

IN OTHER NEWS:

The notice for our immigration interview appointment came in the mail the other day!!
I am SOOO happy!! March 14th at 8:45 AM we will have our interview in Detroit and after the interview I will be a United States resident and can cross the border freely AND get a job in the US!
This is an answer to our prayers for sure! I can't wait to visit my family and friends back in Canada.

That's all for now.
Have a good stupid bowl sunday. (I'm not a football fan, other than 49ers only because my old roomies bro is on the team and that is kinda fun. I would totally watch the super bowl if he was playing.)
